What is Nonviolent Communication?

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a simple and profound process that builds an awareness of how to stay connected to the humanity of ourselves and others while communicating. It is based on a profoundly compassionate communication approach to relationship with your own authentic feelings and needs, personal relationships and work relationships.

Having used this model for many years in relationship counselling and mediation, we can guarantee this will make a very deep impact on how you relate to yourself from this weekend forward.

It offers specific tools to transform situations where conflict is in the air, so that compassion emerges, and people choose actions that are in harmony with everyone's needs and values.

Nonviolent Communication is currently being taught to people from all walks of life in more than 65 countries worldwide and is advocated by world peace leaders such as Kofi Annan, Jeremy Gilley of Peace One Day, H.H. Dalai Laman and of course was the core principle of the extraordinary accomplishments of Mahatma Ghandhi shining a light on nonviolence.

Nonviolent Communication can help in your personal or professional life - at home, with friends, in your community or workplace.

NVC for Organisations

We offer a range of Nonviolent Communication training courses which are sometimes renamed Compassionate Communication or Effective Communication Training courses, depending on the target audience and workplace cultural preferences.

Clients gaining benefits from these NVC at Work programmes include Nestle, European Commission, CSM Global, Synergy Vision and other forward-thinking, progressive organisations.

Testimonial from a recent Business Leader participants ...

“Organisations are designed to serve a function on, particularly in todays climate, limited resource budgets. CSM is no different - exposure to conflict is a part of the day to day. I have developed an interest in the use of language to navigate these situations better and improve the ability of my teams to perform at higher levels.

NVC provides me with a structured, easy to apply (it's pragmatic, not full of theory), methodical approach to language that allows deeper understanding between parties and enables more powerful relationships to be built. As a business executive it allows me to understand in far greater detail the real needs of my internal and external customers, those of my staff and, by preventing escalation of difficult situations, helps me save my most precious commodity - my time."

David Leach
Supply Chain Executive, CSM Global

“I took part in an NVC foundation training in London with Anna after hearing and reading about the NVC process. The course was both enlightening and empowering and left me feeling inspired and confident to use the techniques learnt.

Anna presented the materials at a considered pace that ensured people felt safe and attentive. It was great to be in a context where people are willing look beyond their defenses and share their needs."

I run a communications agency and have been able to use the techniques used in NVC in my business life. NVC in the company allows me to develop a win-win environment and by using this with the team it focuses on creating a corporate culture that is coherent with our values. Empathy, a skill that is central in NVC, is often referred to as “the greatest quality for the manager of the 21st century.” I have found in business and management NVC is applicable in management, leadership, team building and business negotiations."

Ffyona Dawber, Managing Director,
Synergy Vision (medical communications agency)
